The Mercies of God’s Throne Chapel, has grown from humble beginnings into a thriving congregation dedicated to spreading the message of faith and love. Established on September 20, 1999, the church began with just two people worshiping together at the Old Estate Presby JHS, near Lenclay Sports Stadium in Obuasi. Over the years, the church has experienced steady growth, now boasting a membership of 180 individuals committed to the spiritual mission of the chapel.

Located in the New Nyamebekyere community at Old Estate Extension, Obuasi-Adansi, in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, the chapel serves as a beacon of hope and a hub for worship and spiritual nourishment. Its vibrant and dynamic programs cater to individuals across various age groups and interests.

Mercies of God’s Throne Chapel hosts several departments that focus on specific demographics, ensuring that everyone in the church community is actively engaged:

  • Women’s Ministry: Empowering women spiritually and socially.
  • Men’s Ministry: Providing spiritual growth and fellowship opportunities for men.
  • Youth Ministry: Nurturing young people in their faith and equipping them for leadership roles.

Profile of Prelate-Elect Bishop Matthew Nelson Kwesie

Born on July 5, 1962, in Tarkwa-Aboso, Bishop Matthew Nelson Kwesie is a seasoned servant of God with decades of dedicated ministry and leadership. A widower blessed with four sons, Bishop Kwesie’s life is a testament to faith, resilience, and a deep commitment to spreading the gospel.

Bishop Kwesie’s walk with Christ began on December 11, 1987, a transformative moment that set the foundation for his impactful ministry. In 1992, he planted his first church, showcasing his early zeal and calling to serve. By 1994, he joined another ministry, serving faithfully under its leadership and refining his skills for greater responsibilities.

In 1999, Bishop Kwesie responded to the call to pioneer a new work, founding what was then known as Hour of Breakthrough Ministries in Obuasi. The ministry experienced growth and transformation, culminating in a name change to Mercies of God’s Throne Chapel in 2006, reflecting its mission of bringing divine mercy and hope to the community.

Education and Training

Bishop Kwesie is a lifelong learner with a passion for theological and ministerial education. From 1994 to 1996, he attended the Faith and Fire Seminary, laying a solid foundation for his ministry. He later pursued further studies at the prestigious Ghana Christian University College, equipping himself with advanced knowledge to lead and inspire his congregation effectively.

Family and Personal Life

Bishop Kwesie is a proud father of four boys, who are a source of joy and inspiration in his life. Despite the loss of his beloved spouse, he continues to demonstrate unwavering faith and resilience, dedicating his life to God’s work and the well-being of his family.
